Land Use and Building Act (MRL) deems that in every building project there must be a Principal Designer, who takes care of the whole design (architecture, constructions, heating, air conditioning, electricity, data, etc.). This also applies to the construction of a prefab house.
The role of a Principal Designer is always a demanding and responsible.
Land Use and Building Decree (MRA), requires that the Principal Designer has “an appropriate university degree relevant to the planning task..." as well as "a good professional ability to take care of the whole design."
The authorities often require that the Principal Designer takes personally care of all the presentations of the plans, submits the applications to the authorities, as well as delivers any possible amendments of the plans to the authorities.
Principal Designer anticipates and optimizes. When plans are drawn up carefully and according to the agreed schedule, to the actual construction will take place in a clear timeframe and can be controlled without any haste. A well co-ordinated planning gives significant savings in execution.
As a whole it is often best that the original architect of the building also acts as its leading designer.
